From 17th to 19th of July, the historic center of Torrecuso came alive with the Up&Bascio Festival, an event dedicated to culture, local traditions, food and above all, community. The 2026 festival was brought together by Gramigna APS, Nuova Pro Loco Torricolus APS and Forum Giovani Torrecuso in a shared effort to strengthen connections within the town and celebrate its rural identity. 

 

Over three days, residents and visitors participated in rediscovering the streets, stories and traditions of Torrecuso through a varied program. Live music, outdoor cinema, local food and wine created the opportunity for people of different generations to spend time together, through Traditional activities, including the Palio del Castello, traditional barrel-rolling games (giochi con le botti) back to the streets of Torrecuso. Participants competed by rolling wooden barrels through the historic centre,  bringing elements of Torrecuso's rural heritage back into the centre of the celebration. 

 

One of the most memorable moments was the wedding dress parade, where couples from Torrecuso, from those married for decades to more recently married couples, wore their original wedding dresses once again. Together with photographs from their wedding days, the parade created a celebration of love, memory and the stories shared by generations of the local community.  Food and wine also played an important role, allowing visitors to discover traditional flavours and local products.

 

Beyond entertainment, Up&Bascio also created space for associations, young people, volunteers and local organisations to connect and work together, representing Gramigna's belief that a community can create new opportunities by sharing ideas, skills and resources. More than just a festival, Up&Bascio is an invitation to experience Torrecuso as a living community, one that values its roots while working together to build its future.
